Help your students practice their number words, counting, number recognition skills, and more for numbers 1 through 20 with this free, printable snowball fight number sense activity!
Set them out in your math center and pair them with some winter-themed manipulatives for some fun hands-on math practice!
Winter Number Sense
I honestly don’t think there’s a kid out there that doesn’t love a good, old fashioned snowball fight.
They’re so much fun and they’re fantastic for getting some of that extra energy out!
But the one downside of a regular snowball fight is just how cold they can be.
Even with warm gloves or mittens, eventually, your fingers start feeling like ice.
But you don’t have to worry about that with this printable snowball fight number sense activity!
All of the fun without the cold!
And don’t forget about all of the math practice that’s included!
Winter Math for Kindergarten
Your students will have the opportunity to work on their number sense skills as they match each of the snowballs to the correct snow fort.
The snow forts themselves all contain number words spanning from 1 to 20.
The snowballs also contain numbers 1 through 20 but in the following forms:
- dice
- numerals
- tally marks
- ten frames
- counting fingers
This gives your students the ability to practice everything from number recognition and counting to number words and one-to-one correspondence with this one activity.
Set this activity up in your math center and have your students work through the snow forts one by one or have them work together as a group to see how quickly they can sort all of the snowballs.
