Getting back into the swing of things with your preschoolers after the holiday season can be rough.
Everyone is a little out of sorts, everyone is tired from all of the traveling and holiday festivities, and getting everyone back into their normal routine can be a struggle.
But finding fun, new ideas to add to your normal routine like songs, finger plays, and nursery rhymes can make the transition back from the holiday break a little easier and these five little snowmen puppets make the perfect addition to your circle time routine!
Five Little Snowmen Puppets
Now, for us, our January preschool themes include lots of different winter activities, especially those that include snowmen!
They’re absolutely adorable and honestly, who doesn’t love snowmen?
Now, take those snowmen, turn them into puppets, and pair them with a winter song like five little snowmen and it gets even better!
A winter themed finger play like this one is a fantastic way to kick off your new year circle time and it’s such a fun way to get your toddlers or preschoolers engaged and learning!
It’s also perfect for introducing new concepts or to review ones that you’ve already started working on!

- Snowman Button Counting File Folder Game
This particular winter poem not only works on simple counting, but introduces the concept of subtraction as well.
And getting them ready to use in your classroom couldn’t be easier!
We printed ours on card stock so that they wouldn’t fall over or bend too easily and cut them out.
Finally, we used a hot glue gun to attach a jumbo, colored craft stick to the back of each little snowman.
These made the perfect visual to pair with the five little snowmen poem, but if you’d rather use them as a small group or quiet time activity, try hot gluing some small magnets to the back of each snowman instead of the craft sticks and pair them with a cookie sheet.
Once the glue has dried, all you’ve got left to do is play!
If you’ve already got your own version of the song, go ahead and use it!
But if not, we’ve included our own snowman song as part of the printable as well.
We’ve also included a few of our favorite five little snowmen videos below and any one of them would make a great addition to your circle time!
