If you’re looking for a fun and easy way to introduce the concept of addition to your kindergartner, these ten frame addition cards are the perfect hands-on math lesson to get you started!
Ten Frame Addition Cards
When we first started introducing addition, I wanted to find a way to do so smoothly. Something that would make the transition from counting to adding a bit more natural.
These ten frame addition cards worked perfectly for that and as an added bonus, we are able to use them in so many different ways that it doesn’t feel boring or monotonous to pull them out again and again for a little practice.
Included in this set are 20 ten frame addition cards working on addition facts with sums to 10.
Each card is half of an 8 1/2″ x 11″ page so there is plenty of room for little hands to work.
On each card is a single addition problem, space for your children to write the answer to the problem, and the ten frame.
We made the transition from counting to adding as easy as possible by using two different items on our ten frames, but you can obviously use them however you like.
Now, we have been a little bit obsessed lately with using mini erasers on these, specifically emoji mini erasers ? but there so many different ways that you could use them.
Break out the mini erasers like we have or grab a set of Do-A-Dot markers and use two different colors to make dots, stick the cards into dry erase pockets and use various colors or draw different pictures to differentiate between the numbers. You could even use various glass gems in different colors or sizes.
Once your child has counted out both of the individual numbers and added them to their ten frames, simply have them count all of the objects on their frame in total and write the numeral on the included line. Simple as that!
