Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve shared several new math and literacy centers that are absolutely perfect for your Spring lesson planning, including everything from those working on CVC words to those working on counting and ten frames.
Our newest literacy center is no different.
Rain showers and thunderstorms are synonymous with Spring and if your kindergartner has started working on blends at all, this beginning blends thunderstorm literacy center is the perfect way to combine the two.
Spring Beginning Blends
With 21 different beginning blends included in this printable set, your child will have plenty of opportunities to practice with a wide variety of words.
The beginning blends in this download include:
- Bl (blast, blend, blow)
- Br (brag, brim, bring)
- Cl (clam, cliff, climb)
- Cr (crab, crack, crop)
- Fl (flap, flat, flip)
- Fr (frill, frost, fry)
- Gl (glass, glasses, glue)
- Gr (grill, grip, grub)
- Dr (drag, drip, drum)
- Pl (planet, plug, plum)
- Pr (pram, pray, press)
- Tr (tram, trap, trim)
- Tw (twig, twist, twin)
- Sc (scale, scan, scare)
- Sk (skip, skull, skunk)
- Sl (sled, slide, slug)
- Sm (smash, smell, smog)
- Sn (snack, snap, sniff)
- Sp (spill, spin, spots)
- St (stamp, stop, stump)
- Sw (swan, swim, switch)
So, not only is your child going to be working on their beginning blends, but they’ll also be working on their vocabulary as well!
To use this Spring-themed literacy center, simply print the pages and cut out each of the matching sets.
As I said before, there are 21 different blends covered in this activity, so you may want to start off with just a few and work your way up to all of them.
Each matching set includes a dark cloud with the blend listed on it and then there are three raindrops with pictures on them.
Have your child work through the sets by matching each of the raindrops to the correct cloud.
If you’re not sure what word a few of the pictures are supposed to represent, just scroll back up and check the list of included blends as all of the included words are listed there as well.
