If you know anything about preschoolers or kindergarteners, you know that they’re completely captivated by anything construction related.
Fortunately, with printables and activities like these construction themed playdough mats, it’s really easy to incorporate the things that they love into their learning!
Construction Truck Playdough Mats
Whether they’re seeing them at a construction site or even just on the street, young children are often just fascinated by construction trucks!
I mean, I get it.
These machines are massive and perform so many cool jobs.
From laying roads to building the world’s tallest skyscrapers, these construction trucks do so many big things and all of it seems really cool when you’re so small.
And if I’ve learned anything in all my years of working with kids, it’s that finding the things that they’re interested in and adding those to their learning makes a huge difference in not only how much fun then have, but in how much they retain as well.
So, creating some construction themed playdough mats was, for us, a no brainer.
Your students get to feed their love of construction trucks while you know they’re working on fine motor skills, handwriting, and even vocabulary!
And if you use these printable playdough mats as part of a full construction theme, your preschoolers are going to love them even more!
Free Printable Construction Playdough Mats
In this set, you’ll find eight different construction themed playdough mats that include:
- bulldozer
- crane
- dump truck
- back hoe
- hard hat

With these, your students will be able to build several awesome construction trucks as well as a few favorite pieces of construction equipment that they’d see on any building site.
Just print the pages out, cut each of them in half, and run them through your laminator.
Then, pair them with a dry erase marker and some playdough, of course, and set them out for your little learners.
They’ll get to work those small motor muscles as they build the different trucks, practice their pencil grasp and handwriting skills as they trace the words at the bottom of each playdough mat, and add to their vocabularies at the same time.
