The heart theme continues this week with more super simple Valentine crafts for kids!
Looking for an easy preschool craft? Need some more Valentine decor? Well then, you’ve come to the right place!
While we love a good messy craft every once in a while, I’m always on the hunt for simple ones that don’t take a ton of supplies to put together. Something quick that we can do to get a crafty fix without spending the entire afternoon cleaning up our Tot School room afterwards.
This craft? Couldn’t be easier!
It’s adorable, relatively mess free and toddler friendly! What could be better?
Now, let’s get crafting!
As with any craft, you’ll need to gather up your supplies. You will need:
– Red, pink and purple construction paper
– Glue
– Scissors
– A few paper clips (not pictured but I’ll explain in a minute)
First, you’ll need to cut your construction paper into strips as you would when making any paper chain.
Choose which color you would like your hearts to be. You could make all of your hearts the same color or alternate. We decided to make all of ours red.
Once you’ve picked out your colors and decided how many hearts you want on your chain, fold those strips in half.
Take your folded strips and put glue on one end. Next, bend the ends of your strip inward and glue together to create a heart shape.
Here’s where the paper clips come in. Unless you want to sit there and hold those hearts until every single one of them dries, they come in handy. Just slip a paper clip or two over the glued section and move on to the next one. By the time you’re finished making them, the first few should be dry and ready for you.
Connect your pretty little heart with regular circle links until you’ve gotten it as long as you want it.
And there you have it! Display your new creation proudly (and if your house is anything like mine, high enough that your toddler can’t use it as a jump rope).
