It’s no secret that we love file folder games. We’ve got an entire post here on the site dedicated just to them.
I love that there are so many different options and variations; the possibilities really are endless. Whether you’re working on matching skills with your preschooler or compound words with your elementary aged child, there is probably a file folder game out there that can help you practice and if there isn’t, well it’s super easy to make one for yourself.
Now, we’ve made a few different color matching file folder games in the past and have really liked them all, but right now I have a child that is obsessed with crayons. She loves to draw and could spend hours scribbling all over various sheets of paper, so I knew using crayons to practice matching colors would be a big hit.
Crayon Color Matching Game
As far as file folder games go, this one is so incredibly easy to put together and use.
Just cut out the crayons and the matching colored crayon boxes, tape the crayon boxes onto the inside of your folder (leaving the top of each box open so your toddler or preschooler can slide the crayons in) and start matching.
Included in this printable set you’ll find crayon boxes in 11 different colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, black, white, brown, and gray.
The final page of the download includes the crayons to match.
Personally, we printed this page 3 times so that the toddler would have plenty to match, but you can print off as few or as many as you’d like depending on how long you’d like the game to take.
When you’re all done, just store the crayons in either a plastic bag or a zippered pencil case and they’re all ready to go for next time!
