If you can believe it, we’re already on day 7 of our 30 days of fall printables! Of course, we’ve still got plenty of awesome printables left to get to and today’s printable Thanksgiving shadow matching file folder game is just one of them!
Now, my kids LOVE file folder games. It doesn’t matter what we’re working on or what skills they’re practicing, if I can find a way to put it into a fun file folder game, they’ll play with it for hours and have it mastered in no time.
This Thanksgiving themed shadow matching game was no exception.
Getting Ready
To put together your own game, you’ll need:
- The printable shadow matching pieces (below)
- Clear contact paper
- File folder
Print the pieces and cut each of the squares out. Use your contact paper to secure the colored pieces to the file folder. For ours, I put three colored pieces on each half of the file folder so that the shadow pieces would easily fit right next to them.
For added durability, go ahead and laminate the shadow pieces as well so that they don’t get ripped when your child is handling them.
Our version uses only six different pictures and their shadow counterparts, however, there are nine different Thanksgiving-themed pictures and shadows included in the download. That way, you can either pick and choose which ones to use in your own game, or make a larger game using all of the pieces.
Playing the Thanksgiving Shadow Matching Game
When your game is ready, show your child that each colored picture has a shadow piece that matches and have them work their way through each of the shadow pieces by placing them next to the correct colored piece within their folder.
Not only will they have fun playing a quick Thanksgiving themed matching game, they’ll be working on their early math skills at the same time!
