For some of you, this winter has already provided you with plenty of snow to play in.
For those of us down here in the south, however, we’re having to get just a little more creative to enjoy snowflakes and flurries right now.
Of course, creating a bit of our own “snow” to play with does have its advantages.
We can, for example, come up with a number of different activities, we don’t have to worry about freezing fingers, and if we want to add a little bit of a math or literacy spin, it’s not a problem!
Well, that’s exactly what we did with this snowman letter matching literacy center!
Whether it feels like winter outside or not, this letter matching activity brings the feeling of winter inside for everyone to enjoy!
Snowman Letter Matching Literacy Center
These simple snowman and snowflake letter matching cards are super easy to prep and are sure to fill your literacy center with a wintry feeling.
Just print the upper and lowercase letter cards, cut them out, and run them through your laminator to give them a bit of durability.
When you’re done, simply set them up and have your kindergartner practice matching the different versions of each letter.
Using these cards with a small group? Give them each a few different cards and let them play a round or two of “Go Fish” while looking for their matches.
Once the cards are laminated, you could even use a dry erase marker to practice your letter formation by tracing the letters on the cards. When you’re all done practicing the different letters, just wipe the cards clean and they’re ready to use again however you’d like.
You can also pair them with these snowman ten frame count and clip cards to create a math and literacy center combo that works on the letters of the alphabet, counting, number recognition, and fine motor skills all at the same time!
