Now that Thanksgiving is over, we’re really starting to prepare for the rest of the holiday season.
As of now our tree is up, Christmas decorations have filled our home, and we’re starting the Christmas countdown.
To help us track the days this year, we decided to go with a snowman theme and fun twist on a simple paper chain.
This really is such a simple preschool craft and is so much fun to make. But the fun doesn’t end there 🙂
Each day, starting December 1st, we’ll remove a link from our chain until we’re left with nothing but our original snowman on Christmas Day.
Ready to start your own Christmas countdown?
To make your own, you’ll need:
- 2 Cardboard Tubes
- Glue or Tape
- White and Black Construction Paper
- Scissors
First, cut both of your cardboard tubes in half so that you have 4 rings and cut across the side of 3 of them so that you can open them.
Take the 3 that you have cut open and cover the outside with white construction paper. Cover the 4th ring with black construction paper.
Once you have them all covered, cut a circle from your black construction paper and attach it to the same colored ring to make a hat for your snowman and attach your white rings together in the form of a paper chain.
Draw a face and buttons on your snowman and using either glue or tape, attach the hat.
Now that you have your snowman base, all that’s left to do is add your paper chain! One paper link for each day of your countdown.
And you’re all done! Remove a link each day until you reach your snowman and then, have a very Merry Christmas!
