Learning to count to 10 can be a lot of fun for preschoolers, especially if you throw in some fun manipulatives or objects that give them something to focus on rather than simply memorizing the order of the numbers. If you’re working on learning to count or even just practicing counting in the middle of winter, this snowman button counting file folder game is the perfect place to start!
Of course, you could use this game at any time throughout the year, because who doesn’t love snowmen?! Obviously, though, it is perfect if you’re working on a winter or snow and ice theme with your preschoolers and much like our other file folder games, it is super easy to put together.
Snowman Button Counting
The object of this game is simple. Just count the buttons on each snowman as the title says. Easy peasy!
Included in the printable set are 10 different snowmen and their hats.
Each of the snowmen has a different number of buttons on them (1-10) and their hats each have the numeral.
After you’ve attached the cover to the front of your file folder with clear contact paper, you’ll simply attach the 10 snowmen to the inside of the folder the same way.
When they’re all attached, simply stick a Velcro dot on top of their heads so their hat will have something to stick to.
Cut out and laminate the 10 different hats and stick the opposite side of the Velcro to the back of each one.
Quick not, these snowmen are a decent size so that preschoolers have plenty of room to count the buttons on each one.
They do all fit inside a normal size file folder, but you’ll want to do a dry run and test out the placement for each one before you start sticking them to the inside of your folder.
When it’s all put together, just hand your preschooler the hats and let them count! It’s that easy!
