Finding hands-on ways for your kindergartner to work on their CVC words is one of the best ways to help them practice.
Whether you’re just starting to introduce them or they’ve been working on them for a while, giving them the ability to hold pictures representing their CVC words in their hands and manipulate them at their own pace drastically increases their chances of retaining the information.
These printable CVC word puzzles are perfect for that as they give your child the opportunity to put a picture to the word and manipulate the letters for themselves.
CVC Puzzles for Kindergartners
This printable set includes 40 3-piece CVC word puzzles, covering all 5 middle vowel sounds.
Each vowel has 8 different puzzles including:
Middle A – bat, cat, car, ham, map, rat, sad, van
Middle E – bed, gem, hen, jet, men, net, vet, web
Middle I – bin, dig, dip, fix, hit, lip, pig, pit
Middle O – box, cot, fog, fox, log, pod, pot, sob
Middle U – bud, bus, cub, cut, hut, nut, sub, tub
All you have to do is print the puzzles out, cut each of them into three individual pieces, and run them through your laminator if you’d like.
Then, just set them out for your kindergartner or first grader and let them try their hand at building some CVC words.
Once they’ve worked on building those, you can even have them practice rhyming words as there are several words within this set that rhyme, or continue practicing those CVC words while fine-tuning their detective skills with our Secret CVC Words sets one and two.
