Fall is here! Can you believe it?
This summer flew by crazy fast and we’re already starting to see some cooler temperatures here in the south. (You won’t find me complaining about that one bit!)
The timing though, couldn’t be better as we’ve just started working our way through our apple preschool theme unit and nothing says Fall to me quite like apples.
A few months back, we gave seed counting a try with some fun summer fruit but wanted to try and change it up a little bit for this week’s theme.
We did just that by adding dice and turning it into a fun roll and count game.
All you have to do is print off the dice, put it together using either glue or tape, grab the apple printable and something to use as seeds and get counting.
The last time we tried this activity, we used black buttons, but this time we went with black beans as they just seemed a little easier for the preschooler to pick up.
You could use either one of those or any other type of black counters that you have on hand. Use what you’ve got, just get creative :)
Have your child roll the dice and count out the correct number of “seeds.”
If your children are older, you could even try turning it into a game. For example, playing with your child, take turns rolling the dice and counting out seeds. The first one to reach 20 seeds wins!
Either way, game or no game, adding the element of the dice to this activity definitely made it a lot more interesting for the preschooler and is something we’ll be trying out again in the future!
