Summer may still be a few months off, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t get ready for it and practice our counting skills at the same time with some fun ice cream themed count and clip cards!
They’re perfect for working on numbers 0-10, colors, and fine motor skills!
I have yet to meet a child that doesn’t love ice cream. Whether it’s just chocolate and vanilla or some other fun flavor, they all seem to have a favorite and will happily accept any time you offer some.
Offering ice cream scoops for counting practice isn’t exactly healthy or feasible though, so these bright and colorful clip cards are the next best thing.
Work on counting, colors, and fine motor skills with these fun clip cards!
From zero to ten, your preschooler will have the opportunity to count each of the ice cream scoops before putting their fine motor skills to use when they clip the correct number with a clothespin.
Besides counting and fine motor, you could also utilize them to work on colors if your little one needs a little more practice with those.
To make a set of your own, you’ll need:
- The printable ice cream count and clip card set (below)
- Clothespins
- Laminator (optional)
Just print the set out, cut the cards out, and laminate them for durability.
Set them out for your child along with a set of clothespins.
While we used plain wood clothespins for this particular activity, we have also used plastic clothespins in various colors before and the kids really seem to love that option as well.
When you’re finished setting up, have your child count the number of ice cream scoops on each ice cream cone and clip their clothespin to the correct number.
If they’re just learning to count, try starting with just a few of the cards, numbers 0-4, for example, and add more as they master those.
