Shamrocks, rainbows, and little Leprechauns. Yes, St. Patrick’s Day is on its way and I have been hearing about all of the pots of gold that you’ll find at the end of rainbows from my 4 year old for a few days now.
It’s not a holiday that we go all out for, but we do try to find a way to make the day a little bit more fun. It’s usually something simple that just allows us to break up the normal in our weekly routine a bit.
I’ve got a few ideas for this year, especially since the preschooler seems to be so excited about it this year, but one thing we’ve already started on is some St. Patrick’s Day counting.
I don’t know what it is about count and clip cards in general, but both of my kids seem to love them.
Part of that may just be that we try to find ways to make it a little different each time we use them. The cards themselves have different themes and pictures, and for the clips, we change those up too!
For some, we use regular old clothespins and those are always a hit. Other times, we pull out some paper clips and use those instead. We’ve also tried bag clips and binder clips as well and they have loved them all.
Not to mention that no matter what you use, your little one is really working those fine motor skills on top of the math practice.
