Hand washing is such an incredibly imporant part of daily life.
One that we don’t often think too much about.
Right now, however, it’s at the forefront of everyone’s minds.
It’s a fairly simple, straight forward process, but one that still has to be taught to our littlest learners and those that may have some developmental delays.
Luckily, it’s easy to teach with practice, songs, and visual reminders and once you’re done with those, this hand washing step sequencing file folder game gives you the opportunity to continue that practice with your little ones after they’ve left the sink!
Learn the Steps to Proper Hand Washing
Repeatedly going over the steps to proper hand washing while at the sink is obviously the best way to teach your little ones about this process, however, giving them a fun way to continue practicing those steps after they’ve left the sink will only help to reinforce the steps that they’ve learned and this game is such a fun way to do it!
Included in this download, you’ll find a cover for your file folder game, seven step labels, and seven picture cards that contain the steps to proper hand washing.
- Turning on the water
- Getting your hands wet
- Putting soap on your hands and scrubbing
- Rinsing your hands with water
- Turning the water off
- Drying your hands with a paper towel
- Throwing the paper towel in the trash
To make this game yourself, you’ll need:
- A manila file folder
- Clear contact paper
- Velcro dots
- The hand washing game printable (below)
Start by printing off and cutting out each of the included pieces.
Use some clear contact paper to attach the cover to the front of your folder and use a little bit more to attach the step labels to the inside flaps of your folder.
Next, run your picture cards through your laminator for durability and add a Velcro dot to the back of each one.
Finally, attach the opposite Velcro dots to the inside flaps of your folder just above the step labels.
When the game is ready to play, go over the steps to proper hand washing with your little once again and have them work their way through the picture cards, attaching them to the file folder game in the correct order.
