We covered learning and matching colors, now it’s time to move on up to color words. This gumball file folder game is a fantastic way to introduce a little bit of reading in a fun and colorful way.
Once your child has mastered the 11 basic colors and is ready to move on, it’s a good idea to begin teaching them color words. These simple words will serve them well when they’re first learning to read as they are often used as adjectives in materials for beginning readers.

Gumball Color Words
This colorful game is going to take you no time at all to put together but will provide hours of fun and learning for your kiddos.
Like all of our other games, you’ll need to gather up a few supplies to make one of your own. You’ll need:
To create your game, you’ll first need to attach the cover to the front of your file folder.
To do this, simply cut a piece of contact paper a little larger than your cover and place that over the front of your folder with the printed cover in between.
For the actual game, cut out the “gumballs” and the gumball machine.
Again, use contact paper to attach the gumball machine to the inside of your file folder.
These Velcro dots will simply hold your pieces in place.
When you’re ready to use the game, have your child take the gumballs off of the folder and place them on the correct circle within the gumball machine.
Before you know it, they’ll be flying through their color words with ease!
