Add a little fine motor fun to your dinosaur theme unit with this super simple dinosaur tracks play dough invitation.
If there was ever an activity that all three of my kids loved, it would be play dough.
Age doesn’t seem to matter and neither do their very different interests. When it comes to the squishy, moldable fun of play dough, they’re all in.
Lately, though, the oldest has taken a bit of a liking to all things dinosaur related and the preschooler, while always having a bit of an obsession with animals has recently become very interested in the tracks that they leave behind.
So naturally, we combined the two and added in their mutual love of play dough and this quick and easy dinosaur play dough invitation was born.
Dinosaur Play Dough Invitation
It really doesn’t get much easier than this as far as fun afternoon activities go.
Supplies Needed:
- Green play dough (we used regular Play-Doh for this activity, but if you’ve got a favorite recipe you can easily make your own)
- Plastic dinosaurs of various sizes
- Glass gems or rocks
Add everything to a tray and set it out for your little explorers.
Almost immediately my two were grabbing dinosaurs, adding their rocks, and investigating their various “tracks.”
Of course, it didn’t stop there. Before long we had a dinosaur on a mountain and a volcano ready to erupt.
While we talked all about the different dinosaurs that we had, the kiddos got in a fantastic fine motor workout and the whole activity led to the exploration of other animal tracks.
In the end, they played with this set up for hours and we learned a ton about these prehistoric creatures. I’m gonna call that a win!
