With Miss 3 being so interested recently in doing everything her big brother is doing, I’ve been trying to come up with different activities that are not only fun and educational for her, but also some that they can both do together.
Along with being fun, file folder games are such an easy way to introduce new concepts to my 3 year old, while at the same time, reviewing older concepts with the soon-to-be kindergartner.
This printable dinosaur color matching file folder game is the perfect example of that.
Putting the game together is about as easy as it gets.
Just print the pages, cut the pieces out, and laminate the dinosaurs.
Using contact paper, packing tape, or even glue, attach the colored eggs to the inside of a manila file folder and you’re ready to play!
Now, the thing I love most about this particular game is that it can easily accommodate both kiddos with just a simple adjustment of instructions.
For Miss 3, I simply asked her what colors she saw and had her try to match the colors on each dinosaur to the colors on the various eggs.
For big brother, I left out all mention of the individual colors and instead, we talked a bit about how each dinosaur looked like their egg and I let him decide what characteristics that he wanted to compare all on his own.
While I figured that he would make the connection between the colors on the eggs and the colors of the dinosaurs fairly quickly, it was still a lot of fun watching him figure it all out on his own.
And Miss 3? She had a blast with this game!
Since there are 2 different colors on each egg as well as on the matching dinosaur, it was a little bit more of a challenge than our typical color matching games and she was still able to match them fairly quickly.
