Up until now, you might have thought that the saying “counting sheep” was only referred to in the context of trying to get some sleep.
Well, not anymore!
The story book Try Counting Sheep is one that we used to read ALL the time. For months, that seemed to be my son’s favorite book and it didn’t matter if we had just finished reading it for the tenth time that day, he would want to read it again. He loved it so much that we even came up with a sheep themed counting activity to go along with it.
But as the months went on, he moved on to other books and now has quite a few new favorites. His little sister, on the other hand, has just discovered the magic that is this book and it looks like history will be repeating itself.
Since she seems to be just as obsessed with this story as my oldest once was, I created a brand new printable number activity to go along with it that they are both currently loving!
It’s a lot like the simple matching games that we’ve made before except you won’t be matching two of the same cards this time.
With this game, your child will have to match the number card with the number that is on the sheep card.
We’ve already played this game a number of times and each time we play, we use the cards to practice something new. From number recognition and counting to colors and tracing the numbers with our fingers.
Both of my little ones have loved playing it and it couldn’t be easier to put together. Just print, cut, and play!
