Although we’re still in the middle of winter, as we all know, Spring isn’t too far off.
Personally, I can’t wait for the new season as this time of year always signifies new beginnings and fresh starts.
It also means that creatures, big and small, start joining us out in nature once again.
There are so many ways to incorporate these creatures into your learning and if your little learners are as fascinated by bugs and insects as mine are right now, then I’ve got the perfect activity for you today!
These counting bugs ten frame cards are perfect for Spring ad a great way to work on a number of different math skills!
With these simple cards, your little learners will work on one to one correspondence, counting, number recognition, fine motor skills, and handwriting skills!
Bug Counting Ten Frames
Numbers one through ten are all included in this fun set and each card provides your child with numerous opportunities to learn!
To start, each card includes the numeral up at the top in a traceable font, giving them the opportunity to work on their handwriting skills and pencil grasp while also working on their number formation.
When they’re done with the numeral, they can move onto counting the number of spots that the bug on each card has. These correspond to the numeral on the card.
To finish off the card, they’ll use some mini erasers, or even colored chips if you don’t have the mini erasers, to fill in the correct number of spots on the ten frame found at the bottom of each card.
Then, they’ll simply move on to the next card until they’ve worked their way through all ten.
Prepping the Counting Bugs Ten Frame Cards
Prepping these cards is about as easy as it gets!
Once you’ve printed them off, simply cut the page in half, and run these cards through your laminator.
Set them out with a dry erase marker and some mini erasers in your math center and let the learning begin!
