The countdown to Christmas is an exciting time for children of all ages. Whether they’re eagerly anticipating the arrival of Santa Claus or they’re looking forward to the presents and activities that generally accompany the holiday, their excitement starts early and easily lasts throughout the entire month of December.
For us though, as parents, the holiday season can seem more overwhelming than anything. Rather than a fun-filled countdown, to us it tends to look more like a race against the calendar as we try to fit in all of our holiday preparations before the big day arrives.
Between making sure the house is ready for out of town guests, planning and prepping the holiday meal, and fitting in the shopping for everyone on our list, the days just don’t seem long enough and, before we know it, we wake up on Christmas morning realizing that we spent more time getting ready for the holiday season than we did actually enjoying any of it.
