From clowns and acrobats to popcorn and cotton candy, there is so much fun waiting for you and your little learners under the big top and a circus theme is a fantastic way to share that with your preschoolers!
Whether you’re looking for some new activities to add to your current circus theme or you’re building one from scratch, these circus playdough mats are the perfect place to start!
Circus Playdough Mats
Step right up and join the fun! These circus playdough mats are a fantastic way to work on those fine motor skills with your preschoolers and kindergarteners!
And with these printable mats, they’ll also get the chance to work on their handwriting skills and vocabulary as well!
Prepping the Circus Playdough Mats
Within this download, you’ll find eight different circus themed playdough mats!
- balloon
- clown
- cotton candy
- fire ring
- peanut
- popcorn
- ticket
- circus tent
Just print them off, cut the pages in half, and laminate them so that the playdough doesn’t stick.
You can print these on some white card stock if you’d prefer, but honestly, we just print them all on regular paper and then laminate for durability and that seems to work just fine for us!
Don’t have a laminator? That’s okay!
You could also throw this set of playdough mats into a page protector or one of those reusable dry erase pockets and those will work just fine!
When they’re all prepped and ready to go, set them out with some different colors of playdough and let your kids enjoy the circus!
Using the Circus Playdough Mats
Playdough mats like these are such a fun hands-on fine motor skills activity! They’re also a fantastic sensory activity as well!
Your students will get to work on building their grip strength by squishing and squeezing the playdough and they’ll really get a chance to work on their pincer grasp and small motor muscles as they mold and shape their playdough into these circus themed shapes!
When they’re finished making their circus items, you’ll also have the opportunity to work on colors with your preschoolers and handwriting skills with your kindergarten students once you add in a dry erase marker!
That’s already a ton of fun for any circus obsessed students that you may have, but pair this set of free printable playdough mats with some homemade color surprise playdough (one of our all-time favorite playdough recipes) and you’ve instantly added in a little bit of that circus magic!
