The back to school season is finally here! It’s time for all things pencil, crayon, and of course, chalkboard related.
Whether you’re looking for a fun first-day activity to help your kindergarteners practice letter formation or setting up some alphabet busy bags for your preschoolers, these printable chalkboard alphabet tracing cards are the perfect way to kick off your new school year!
I love having a few quick and easy activities on hand for either quiet time or those times when we have just a few spare minutes before moving on to something else and this one fits that bill perfectly!
You won’t need any crazy supplies or tons of time, just the chalkboard alphabet cards and something to write with.
Now, for our use, I simply printed them out, laminated them for durability, and put them, along with a dry erase marker or two, into a plastic pencil box.
This makes it so easy for the preschooler to grab the case, pop it open, and practice writing both upper and lowercase letters. She can do it independently, which makes it a fantastic quiet time activity and with them being laminated, we can erase them as often as we want and she can practice with them over and over again.
Of course, if you’d rather not bother with the pencil box and the dry erase marker, you could just as easily leave them as is once you print them out and use crayons, markers, or even chalk to trace the letters.
Another idea is to laminate them and set them next to a salt or rice tray and have your preschooler or kindergartener use their finger or a skewer to practice writing the letters in the writing tray as they flip through the different cards.
There are so many different ways that you could incorporate these cards into your daily learning and as a bonus, almost all of those ways give those little fine motor skills a fantastic workout!
