With summer now completely upon us and the 4th of July holiday weekend coming up next week, camping season is in full swing.
As anyone with children can tell you, camping with kids, while a lot of fun, can also wind up being really stressful. Trying to keep the kids entertained, especially when they’re worn out, hungry, and you’re trying to cook can be exhausting.
A few weeks ago, we shared some of our favorite camping games for kids and a few nature inspired crafts that will help keep the little ones busy, having fun, (and yes, in some cases learning!) while exploring the great outdoors, but today, we’re tackling the food!
These 10 fun camping recipes for kids are sure to please even the pickiest of eaters, and the best part, the kids can help you make them!
Made over an open campfire, these Curly Dogs are sure to quickly become a kid-friendly favorite! Not only are they easy for little fingers to dip into ketchup, but you won’t have to worry about the hot dog slipping out of the bun to attract ants on the ground!
These fun Campfire Treats are not only adorable but would be fun to make with the kids as well! Encourage their creativity while they make their own fun camping snack!
Got a super picky eater that just won’t eat “camp” food? Try a delicious Camping Pizza (this one just happens to be gluten free!)
Ready to move on to the desserts? I mean, it just wouldn’t be camping with s’mores right?
Of course, you don’t have to stick to traditional s’mores either! Get creative with them, switch things up! Maybe try out a few of these delicious looking twists on an old favorite.
Perhaps you’re heading out on a hike or spending the afternoon on the lake and need a quick snack. S’more Trail Mix (also known as Camper’s Crunch) to the rescue!
Or maybe you want to change things up. The graham cracker portion definitely gets a step up in these Fudge Striped Cookie S’mores!
Better yet, why not enjoy it ice cold with a delicious and frozen Campfire Cone?
Like the idea of a cold dessert on a hot summer night? If you’re camp out is taking place in the backyard, grab yourself some marshmallows and whip up an icy Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake that the kids will love!
Hold up a minute! S’mores not really your thing? That’s okay!
There are plenty of desserts out there that don’t include the classic combo of graham cracker, chocolate, and marshmallow!
A warm tortilla, pie filling, chocolate, and more combine to make this the perfect Boy Scout Dessert Burrito!
Maybe you’re thinking a brownie sounds nice. Throw a little science into your already learning filled camping trip by turning oranges into an oven to create Brownie Oranges.
Perhaps though, after a long, fun-filled day out on the camp grounds, you’re just looking for something to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth that’s quick, easy, and doesn’t require much prep.
If that’s the case, bring nature to the table with some delicious Worms and Dirt Pie!
