I’m really having a hard time believing that it is already almost summer. Mother Nature is doing her best to make me believe it though (hello 90 degrees yesterday).
Even though I’m not quite ready for the temps to go quite that high just yet, I figured I might as well embrace it since it doesn’t look like it will be cooling off anytime soon.
How exactly do you embrace 90 degrees in the middle of May you ask? With ice cream of course!
This “sweet treat” printable game has not only gotten us into the summer spirit, it has also been a great way to reinforce taking turns with Nicholas.
We’ve been working on sharing and taking turns for quite a while now but playing this game, and others like it, has really helped him understand the concept.
So, how do you play? Well, I’m glad you asked!
It’s a simple game, but a lot of fun :) Of course, to start, you’ll need to download and print the pages.
You’ll only need to print the die once but you’ll need to make sure that you have enough cones to go around.
You can put the die together using either glue or tape on the tabs and then just cut out your ice cream cone pieces.
From there, it is as simple as rolling the dice and putting together your ice cream cone as you roll the various parts. Pick and choose your cone shape, ice cream colors, flavors and more!
The one who builds their entire cone first wins!
But be careful! If you roll the die and get the sun, a layer of your ice cream cone melts off!
Use it as a way to teach taking turns, work on colors and numbers using the ice cream scoops, or just play a fun summer game! However you play, pair it with an ice cold ice cream cone and you’ll be ready for summer in no time :)
