With Spring right around the corner, we’re looking ahead to all of the fun we can have with Spring-themed activities and this rain boot color matching file folder game is one that we will definitely be pulling off the shelf!
It can be used to work on colors, counting, and matching with your toddler and is perfect for those days that you’re stuck inside.
Yellow, pink, green, and blue, these brightly colored rain boots are such a fun way to get your toddler or preschooler working on both their colors and their matching skills!
Rain Boot Color Matching
Like all of our other file folder games, to make this one you’ll need to start by attaching the included cover to the front of your folder with some clear contact paper.
Use a little bit of double-sided tape to hold the cover in place while you lay the contact paper over the top if you’re having trouble with static.
Assembling the inside of this game is super easy!
Just cut out each of the included rain boots. There are seven pairs.
Attach one boot from each pair to the inside of your folder using some more contact paper and cut out and laminate the other boot.
Next, to the boot that you attached to your folder, add a Velcro dot so the matching boot will have something to stick to and attach the opposite Velcro dot to the back of your laminated boot.
When all of your pieces are ready to go, give your toddler or preschooler the pile of laminated boots and have them match them to the correct colored boot.
To extend the activity, you can try having them name the colors as they match them or even count them as they pair them up. Either way, this rainy day activity is the perfect way to sneak a little extra early math practice into your day!
