It’s that time again! Time to share another page from our preschool alphabet book!
It seems to be working out pretty well, sharing both the upper and lowercase versions of a letter, one right after the other so we’re continuing on with that.
When we first started our B is for Bumblebee theme, I knew we were going to have to include a letter B bumblebee in our alphabet book and I’m so glad we did! It turned out great!
This is such an easy craft to make with your preschooler and is a great way for them to practice their scissor skills.
Since the stripes for the bumblebee are simple straight lines, this craft is perfect for those little ones that are just beginning with scissors and glue.
To make this adorable letter B, you’ll need:
- Black and yellow construction paper
- A sheet of card stock
- A black pipe cleaner
To make your letter, you could print out a template like we did or simply free-hand it. Either way, cut out an uppercase letter B from your yellow construction paper and have your child cut their black construction paper into thin strips.
Next, you’ll need to glue your stripes onto your bumblebee. Let your little one glue them however they like and don’t worry about gluing them over the holes in the letter.
Once the glue is dry, just give your stripes a quick trim and shape them to the letter.
To finish up your bumblebee, glue your letter B onto your card stock, cut a set of wings from your black construction paper and make the antennas.
To make those, simply cut your pipe cleaner in half and have your child twist one end around their finger before attaching them to your bumblebee. We tried both glue sticks and liquid glue with these but ultimately found that for the pipe cleaners, taping them down was the easiest way to go.
Of course, after we glued all of the pieces on our card stock, we hole punched it and added it to our alphabet book with our printable uppercase letter B page. Like our letter A page, this one included a place to practice handwriting as well as pictures of other items that start with the letter B.
