Due to a few technical difficulties, the next letter in our alphabet book series did not end up on the site last week as I had planned but, all is well because I have it here for you today!
This little guy is not only a fun addition to our book but is also perfect for summer! If you follow us on Instagram, you’ve probably already seen him and know just how adorable he is, but if you don’t, well then you’re in for a treat!
Without further ado, I give you our lowercase letter C crab!
If you’re looking for a simple, summer themed craft to make with your preschooler, this is it! We had so much making this little guy and he really is pretty adorable :)
As always, the materials you’ll need to make him are pretty simple. You’ll need:
- Red construction paper
- A sheet of white card stock
- Scissors
- Glue
- Crayons
- Googly eyes
First, take your sheet of red construction paper and cut it in half. This will make your crab the perfect size to fit onto your card stock.
With one of your half-sized sheets, either cut or have your child cut out the lowercase letter C for the body of their crab. One thing that I find that really helps when having your child cut out their letters is to draw the shape that you want them to cut on the construction paper using a highlighter. Once it’s dry you won’t really be able to see it, but it gives them a guideline.
With the other half sheet, cut out two smaller letter C’s to make the claws.
With what’s left of your construction paper, cut out the rest of the shapes for your crab. You’ll need to cut two longer rectangles for the arms, two shorter rectangles and two circles for the eyes. You can adjust the size of these however you like to fit onto your card stock.
For the eyes, glue your googly eyes on to the circles that you just cut and set them aside to dry for just a minute.
While you’re waiting for those to dry, start assembling your crab. Turn your sheet of card stock sideways and glue your large letter C on its side so that it looks like an upside down U. (When you turn the paper right side up, it will look like a letter C).
Add the shorter rectangles up top but make sure to leave a little bit of room for the eyes!
Once the eyes are dry, go ahead and glue them onto your card stock along with the longer rectangles and the smaller C’s for your crab’s claws. Of course, if you want, go ahead and use your crayons to draw on a nice little smile :)
Have a little bit of handwriting fun with the printable lowercase letter C page and you’re all done! Add him to your alphabet book with the rest of your fun crafts and enjoy!
