Science is, most definitely, one of those subjects that just can not be learned solely from a textbook.
Yes, you can read about how things work and about what happens when you mix two chemicals, but recreating an experiment and viewing the results for yourself will make it so much easier for you to retain that information. The same thing goes for your children as well.
This, of course, includes learning about magnets. You could teach your children that magnets attract and that only certain items are magnetic, but letting them explore them with their own hands means they will learn so much more!
Working with and manipulating magnets can work on your children’s critical thinking skills as magnets can teach them “cause and effect.”
They can help your children further develop their math skills as they add and subtract the number of magnets, observe the size and shape of the magnets used, and even introduce them to the concept of more or less.
Finally, magnets are so open-ended that they can contribute to your child’s creative skills. They can manipulate them how they wish, move them, in some cases reshape them, and so much more!
