For the past few years, the vast majority of the activities that we’ve come up with in our household have been mainly for the preschooler. As the oldest, he has been the first to try out and enjoy many of my sometimes crazy ideas and we’ve always had a ton of fun with them.
Now though, with our youngest now past her second birthday and no longer immediately shoving everything given to her directly into her mouth, I’ve tried to find a few ways to not only include her in our activities, but make a few that are primarily for her as well.
Since we’ve been working on a farm theme unit and animal activities lately, I wanted to create a few things that she would enjoy just as much as her big brother.
Seeing as how she is really into shapes right now, we found the perfect way to combine the two!
Printed out on card stock and laminated afterwards, these adorable little barns are durable enough to withstand an over excited toddler and a fun way to practice those shapes and colors!
Who knows?! Older siblings might just enjoy them as well :)
As always, you can use them simply “as is,” or shake things up and use them to create your own games.
Flipping them over for a round of memory is a great way to work on same and different and is an even better way to practice taking turns.
Feel like kicking things up a notch? Get your preschooler involved and set up a smaller, farm-themed version of “Go Fish,” or use them in place of farm animal puzzle pieces in a barnyard themed sensory bin!
Really, the possibilities are endless :)
