With the busyness of the past few weeks in preparation for the upcoming holidays, I’ve gotten a bit behind on getting the photos together to post our alphabet book crafts. Obviously, with Thanksgiving being next week, things will only get busier, but hopefully, over the next couple of days, we can get a few of those caught up :)
Next up, the lowercase letter H!
Like all of the others, this was super simple to make and it has been so much fun watching our book come together. Adding this cute little lowercase letter horse only makes it better!
At this point, I kind of feel like we could easily become a walking ad for construction paper :) My preschooler and I both love seeing what we can make with it and really, the possibilities are endless!
For this alphabet craft, you’ll need:
- A sheet of white card stock
- Black and brown construction paper (we didn’t have two different shades of brown in our stash so we went with black but use whatever you have)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Googly eyes
To get yourselves started, you’re going to need to cut out the lowercase letter H, some pointy ears, and a rounded (on one end) shape for the head from the black paper.
From the brown, cut a shape for the tail and one for the mane. When cutting the mane, don’t worry if it is a bit longer than the top portion of your letter.
Now to put it all together, first glue your letter H onto your card stock. If you want, you can make your shapes a bit smaller than we did as we had quite a bit of overhand on both sides, but either way, it should still fit into your book.
Have your child glue the rounded shape for the head onto the top of your letter with the rounded section facing away.
Add the ears on top of the head and glue the mane right next to the opposite side of the bar. Trim it if you want, but we actually just left ours and really liked the way it turned out.
Finally, glue on the tail, add a googly eye, and with a white crayon (if you used black paper) give him a fun smile!
