Morning everyone! I hope your Thursday is going well so far :)
In case you haven’t yet noticed, the site has gotten a bit of a makeover! It is something we have been working on for quite some time now and I couldn’t be happier that it is finally done. Of course, there are still a few minor tweaks to finish up so please bear with me for a bit as that gets taken care of :)
While we’re working on that though, I know there are quite a few of you that are following along with our alphabet book series and I wanted to make sure that you all got the next installment of that as soon as possible, so up today we have the uppercase letter G!
Out of all of the letters that we’ve done so far, I think this one was little man’s favorite. Something about those spots had him giggling like crazy as we glued them on :)
Making your own is super simple!
You’ll need:
- Yellow and brown construction paper
- A sheet of white card stock
- Googly eyes
- Glue
- Scissors
- Crayons
To start, cut out an uppercase letter G from your yellow construction paper. While you’re at it, cut out the rest of the pieces that you’ll need from the yellow as well.
Next, cut out the pieces that you’ll need from the brown. The majority of what you’ll cut out here is going to be the spots that you’ll add to your giraffe at the end. The other piece that you’ll need is a leaf shape for the ear that is a little smaller than the one you cut from the yellow construction paper.
To begin putting your giraffe together, glue the letter G onto your sheet of card stock and add the head to the top of the letter.
Next up, glue the smaller brown ear shape onto the larger yellow shape and glue them onto the head along with the ossicone (the knob on the top of a giraffe’s head). Glue on a googly eye and break out the crayons and have your child draw on a nose and a mouth.
When you’ve got that done, you’re ready to start gluing on the spots. No rhyme or reason, just glue them on wherever you think they look good!
When you’re all done, you’ve got an adorable alphabet shaped zoo animal that is ready to join the rest of your creations in your alphabet book!
Grab the uppercase letter G page from the set of interactive alphabet pages to go alongside him and you’re all set! Enjoy!
