One of the things I try to do with Nicholas’ Tot School time, is make it fun.  He is only 2 and I want to instill in him a love of learning.  If he finds it boring now, there is no way I will be able to get him to much later on.

One of the ways I do this is by trying to make each week different.  We do sometimes repeat activities that he really likes but I try to make sure that he has some new activities that he hasn’t seen before.

If you remember back to our numbers week, we used a lot of different hands-on activities to learn our  numbers.  As a little bit of a review over the past few days we have gone fishing.  Fishing for numbers that is.  And, just in case you and your little one would like to take a little mid-winter fishing trip, we’ve got the printable just for you.

Here is what you need:

1) The fishing for numbers printable.  Just print, cut out the fish and you’re ready to go.
2) Paper clips
3) A child’s toy fishing pole or something like it.  (A stick, a wooden dowel, etc.)
4) String (if not already on the pole)
5) Magnet

Just download, print and cut out the fish.  Stick a paper clip on them where the mouth should be and tie your magnet to the end of your fishing pole string.  That’s it!  Super easy and a whole lot of fun.

We spent quite a while “fishing” and Nicholas loved it.  Just call out numbers and have your child fish for the right fish :)
