It’s fall y’all and it actually feels like fall here in the south, for right now at least.
We are, of course, expecting some more warm temps next week, but for the time being, we’re going to be enjoying the crisp mornings and indulging in all things fall!
That, obviously, includes pumpkins which means that it’s time to break out our newest life cycle file folder game!
From seed to full-sized fruit, this pumpkin life cycle file folder game is the perfect way to explore the various stages involved in the growing of a pumpkin!
Start with the seed and watch it grow! With this game, you’ll be able to sequence the stages of a pumpkin’s life cycle using pictures, words, or both. It’s all up to you!
Assembling the Pumpkin Life Cycle Game
If you’ve used our life cycle file folder games before, then you know the drill, it’s time to gather your supplies. If you’re new to using our games, you’ll need:
- A manila file folder
- Clear contact paper
- Scissors
- Laminator (optional, but highly recommended)
- Velcro dots
- The pumpkin life cycle printable (below)
To start, print and cut out all of the pumpkin life cycle pieces as well as the game’s cover.
Using some of your clear contact paper, attach the cover to the front of the folder and the included arrows to the inside of your folder as shown in the picture below.
When you’re done attaching those arrows to the inside of your folder, run the rest of the pieces through your laminator for durability and stick one side of your Velcro dots to the backs of each of the pieces (both the words and the pictures).
When that’s done, add the other side of the Velcro dots to the inside of your folder as shown as well. Each spot within the cycle should have two dots, one for the picture and another for the words that will accompany it.
Using the Pumpkin Life Cycle Game
Once your game is all put together, talk with your child about a pumpkin’s life cycle and the stages that it will go through as it grows.
Then have them look through the pictures and the names of the stages that are included within the game.
If this is the first time that you’re introducing them to life cycles, start by including either the words or the pictures and have them add the others as you walk through them together.
If they’re ready to fully build the life cycle themselves, hand them the word cards and the picture cards and have them put the pumpkin life cycle together themselves.
Pair it with the rest of our life cycle file folder games and they’ll be life cycle pros in no time!
