If you’ve been a reader of our site for any length of time, you know how much we love creating and using activities that work on more than one skill at a time.
These alphabet clip cards are a perfect example as they’ll allow you to work on the letters of the alphabet, obviously, while also incorporating a little fine motor practice as well.
Alphabet Clip Cards
Using the 26 cards that are included in this set will allow you to practice both the upper and lowercase letters of the alphabet while matching the pairs together.
You’ll also find that these clip cards come in a rainbow of colors, making it super easy to add a color review to the list if you’re using these with your preschooler.
To Use
To use these cards, you’ll need:
- The printable alphabet clip cards (below)
- Clothespins
Print and cut the alphabet clip cards and then run them through your laminator.
Set them out for your child to use with some clothespins or if you’d like, you can swap out the clothespins for some paperclips or even binder clips for more of a fine motor workout.
Explain to your child that each of the cards has a large uppercase letter and three, smaller lowercase letters along the bottom.
Their job is to figure out which one of the lowercase letters match the uppercase letter up top and clip it with their clothespin.
If they’re just starting out and you feel like they may feel overwhelmed with the entire alphabet all at once, start out with just a few letters at a time and work your way up to being able to match the entire alphabet.
Add another level of learning by asking them to sequence the cards based on the uppercase letter listed at the top. Start at A and work your way through the alphabet all the way to Z!
