You might think that being the smallest state in the nation, at just 1,212 square miles, put the great state of Rhode Island at somewhat of a disadvantage when in fact, some truly big things have come out of the Ocean State.
From its official name to the ideas and values that spurred the addition of the Bill of Rights to the American Constitution, since becoming the 13th state on May 29, 1790, Rhode Island’s small size has never kept this seaside state from thinking big.
In fact, as one of the 13 original colonies, Rhode Island has played a huge role in some of our country’s biggest moments in history and with this Rhode Island state study, we’re going to dive in and take a look at a few of those.
