Learning to read can be a struggle for some children, but you can make it a whole lot less stressful for both you and your child by making it fun! That’s exactly what this beginning sound file folder game does! It turns the tricky transition from knowing the sounds the letters make to being able to pick them out of words into a fun game of put out the fire!
Whether you’re simply working on mastering beginning sounds or are looking for a fun activity to add to a firefighter or fire safety unit, this file folder game is absolutely perfect!
Put Out the Fire File Folder Game
Now, as always, this set includes both the pieces to build the game and a cover that you can attach to the front of your folder using contact paper to make it easy to find when stored with your other file folder games.
Whether you use a hanging system like this one or a simple filing cabinet, you’ll always know exactly what game you’re getting when you pull one out.
Once your folder is prepped, you’ll need to get the pieces ready.
Included within the download are 26 letter fires and 26 water pieces with pictures on them.
Cut out each of the letter fires and attach them to the inside of your folder using some more contact paper.
Next, cut out each of the water pieces and laminate them for durability.
As I’ve said before, with alphabet games like this, we tend to not use Velcro dots as it just seems like a bit of an overload on a small file folder game.
So, with that said, we simply place each of the pieces where they need to go and them wipe them all away when we’re done.
The object of this game is to put out all of the fires by putting the correct water piece on top of it. All 26 letters of the alphabet are included (uppercase) and there are also 26 water pieces, each has a picture with the beginning sound matching one of the fires.
