Pattern blocks make fantastic manipulatives for young children.
They’re not only excellent for working on strengthening those fine motor skills, but they’re also great for working on colors, shapes, and basic early geometry.
Now, they will, of course, work perfectly fine on their own, but pair them with some fun printable mats like these Christmas pattern block picture mats and they’re instantly a whole lot more festive!
Christmas Pattern Block Mats
We love working with block mats at my house. They are a fun way to work on shapes, early geometry, and math principles, and they’re perfect for making your learning activities more hands-on.
When working with preschoolers and kindergarteners, it’s great to have manipulatives around to keep busy minds and hands working.
Even older children will enjoy working with pattern blocks although they may decide to make pictures of their own.
Using Block Mats
Block mats are a great center activity in the classroom or a fun way to keep the kids occupied while you are busy around the house or working from home.
These mats can either be printed and used as is or laminated for durability and used with a dry erase marker. Students will use plastic pattern blocks to make the pictures found on each of the mats.
The fun thing about block mats is that they are a great tool for all preschool and elementary age kids. I love using activities that will engage kids and work on those fine motor and critical thinking skills. I also love having a hands-on activity that makes learning fun and exciting, especially for younger kids.
Christmas Patterns
We have posted a few different sets of pattern block mats before, but Christmas is one of my absolute favorite holidays, so I just had to make a set for the holiday season as well!
And you won’t have to worry about your kids getting bored making a single holiday picture or two as this set comes with ten fun and festive designs:
- Snowflake
- Santa’s Hat
- Santa Clause
- Reindeer
- Ornaments
- Jingle Bells
- Holly berries
- Christmas Tree
