For preschoolers, learning to write, spell, and recognize their name is always such a fun time.
It is, more than likely, one of the very first words they learn to recognize and is also one of the easiest ones for them as they see it so often.
Whether they’re just learning to spell it or can, at this point, recognize it as soon as they see it, this hidden name painting project is one they’ll want to do over and over again!
Even better? This simple painting project couldn’t be easier to set up!
Just grab some watercolor paints, any kind will do, a piece of white construction paper, a white crayon, a little water, and you’re good to go!
Now, I know it’s probably difficult to see, but in the picture above, we have simply written little man’s name right across the page in white crayon. Makes it a little hard to read no matter how you’re looking at it.
But that’s half the fun! When working on this painting, I told my two little ones that their names were disappearing and they needed to find each of the letters. And boy, did they have fun accomplishing that!
Mix a little water into those paints and get going!
As you paint, you’ll find that the crayon acts as a resist and won’t allow the paint to stick to the page. Pretty exciting stuff for a preschooler :)
When you’re all done, your child should be able to see their entire name whether they painted the entire page or just around the letters and they’re going to love making their name reappear!
