How do you and your family get ready for Halloween?
Do you keep it a little more low key, or go all out with the decorations?
Nicholas is only 3 right now and Skylar just turned 1, but I have wanted to get them involved when it comes to decorating for holidays since the day Nicholas was born.
This year, we’ve finally gotten that new tradition started by crafting some of our own Halloween decorations.
The first of which, is probably already my favorite!
Halloween window decorations can be a lot of fun to put and look at throughout the Fall season, but they’re even better when you and your little ones make them yourselves. And this little Frankenstein sun catcher makes an adorable addition to your Halloween decorations!
They are super simple to make and you won’t need to make a huge mess with glue or anything! All you’re going to need is:
– The Frankenstein Sun Catcher Printable (grab your below!)
– Contact Paper
– Green Tissue Paper
– Scissors
That’s it!
Go ahead and cut out the Frankenstein pieces from the printable. We printed it off on card stock and found that that worked really well for us.
If your child is old enough, have them cut out the pieces for themselves, but if they’re not, give them the green tissue paper and have them start ripping it into pieces while you cut Frankie out :)
Once you’ve got him all cut out, lay out one of your contact paper pieces (sticky side up), arrange your Frankenstein outline and press it into the contact paper so that it sticks.
Now, for the fun part!
Give your child all of the tissue paper pieces that they either just cut into squares or ripped into pieces and have them cover Frankenstein with the green paper.
If they get some of the paper outside of the outline, don’t worry about. When you cut your sun catcher out, you’ll be able to trim those areas off.
When you’re ready, take your second sheet of contact paper and cover your sun catcher with it. Make sure you smooth it out so that you don’t wind up with any air bubbles.
All that’s left for you to do is cut him out and stick him up on the window!
Frankie here makes such an adorable addition to your Halloween decorations that you’re going to want to keep him up all year round! But, even if you do only hang him up for the Halloween season, he’s so easy to make that you’re going to want to make a few of him so that you can have one or two in every window!
Don’t worry! We’ve already made a few of our and you can print off as many of the Frankenstein sun catcher printables as you need!
