Cinnamon rolls just happen to be one of our all-time favorite breakfast foods.
And why not? They’re gooey and delicious and eating them is just the perfect way to spend a lazy Saturday morning.
But then again, it wouldn’t be a lazy weekend morning if you spent hours in the kitchen making cinnamon rolls now would it?
That’s what makes these particular cinnamon rolls perfect for the weekend. Your bread machine is going to do the majority of the work for you!
They’re light, fluffy, gooey, absolutely delicious and go perfectly with a hot cup of coffee :)
Even better, the kids can help you make them! Measuring the ingredients and rolling out the dough can be a lot of fun when you have a couple of cute little helpers!
But the absolute best part of this recipe is the glaze. We love adding that little extra bit of cinnamon at the end but with this super simple trick, there are so many different variations that you can try!
But, first things first, you’re going to have to make your dough!
You’ll need:
- 1 cup milk
- 3 tbs. water
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 1/4 cup butter
- 3 1/3 cups flour
- 3 tbs. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. yeast
Put your yeast into the bread machine pan first and then add your flour, sugar, and salt.
Melt your butter and add to it your beaten egg, milk, and water.
Pour your wet mixture directly on top of your dry mixture in the bread machine pan and start the dough cycle on your machine.
Once the cycle is complete, turn your dough out of the pan and knead in enough flour to make it easy to handle.
Roll your dough out into a rectangular shape that is about 1/4 inch thick. The kids love helping with this step :)
Next, you’ll need to make your filling! You’ll need:
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tbs. butter (softened)
You’ll want your butter softened but not melted. If you melt it, your filling won’t stay in your rolls while their rising :)
Mix all of your filling ingredients together in a small bowl until they’re thoroughly combined and spread it all over your dough leaving about 1/2 inch border all the way around.
Once you’ve spread your filling, roll your dough up into a log shape and cut the ends off.
Cut 1 inch thick slices from your log and place in a greased 9×13 inch pan.
Cover with a tea towel or damp paper towel and let rise for about 30 minutes in a warm, dry place.
Once they’ve risen, just pop them into a 350° oven for 25 minutes.
While they’re baking, you’ll need to get your glaze ready and this is definitely the fun part :) There are so many variations that you could make with this super simple recipe and you won’t need a lot of ingredients or spices to make it happen because…
Yep, this is your secret ingredient :) Flavored coffee creamer.
Now we prefer going a little over the top with the cinnamon so we make ours with this Cinnabon flavor but you can pick and choose whatever flavor you like.
All you’ll need for the glaze is:
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tsp. creamer
That’s it!
When your time goes off, just pull your rolls out of the oven and pour your glaze over them while they’re still hot. They’ll be warm, gooey, and absolutely delicious!
