When it comes to food pairs, I don’t think there is anything more iconic than peanut butter and jelly.
It’s a bit of a childhood staple that has been passed down through generations simply because they work so well together.
Like bacon and eggs or even milk and cookies, some things just stand the test of time.
Now, the fun thing about pairings like this is that they can work in any number of situations.
This peanut butter and jelly sight word matching literacy center is a fantastic example of that as this perfect pairing gives us an awesome opportunity to work on practicing some sight words!
If you’re working on sight words with your kindergartner, then you know just how important it is to practice them over and over.
The problem with that is that, oftentimes, kids just get bored with doing the same thing over and over again. They don’t want to repeat the same activity or the same set of flashcards repeatedly just to learn a few new words and honestly, I can’t say that I could blame them.
Finding ways to make practicing things like sight words fun is the key to really getting and keeping your child engaged and learning.
Luckily, switching things up on a regular basis is pretty easy and keeps it fun and engaging, which simply makes kids more excited about learning.
With this peanut butter and jelly sight word matching set, you’ll be able to work on the entire set of Fry’s first 100 sight words and you’ll be able to do it by easily making some delicious looking PB and J sandwiches (which most kids tend to love)!
Within the download itself, you’ll find 100 peanut butter and jelly matching pairs, one for each sight word.
Just print them off, cut them out, and run them through your laminator.
You’ll obviously want to start off with just a few sets at a time as using the entire thing would easily overwhelm your kindergartner.
Once they’ve mastered the first few sets, move onto the next while also adding in a few other fun ways, like our Spot and Dot Sight Word sets, to practice the words that they’re learning.
