I have always loved the back to school season. It was something I looked forward to every year as fall approached.
The brightly colored pencils, the notebooks full of fresh, clean pages just waiting to be written on, the backpack filled with new supplies as I headed out to school for the first day.
Even now, as an adult, I find that I still feel that same excitement when the store shelves start filling up with school supplies each year.
While my excitement remains the same however, back to school shopping has definitely changed over the years.
It’s no longer as simple as grabbing some new pencils, a few notebooks, and a backpack to carry them all. Nowadays, the list of supplies is longer than ever and filled with everything from crayons and scissors to lunch boxes and water bottles.
Now, no parent wants to spend an arm and a leg on school supplies, but they do want something of value. They want something that will last, something they won’t be looking or needing to replace soon after it’s been purchased.
On top of that, more and more parents are opting for more environmentally friendly options. I mean, we teach our children to respect and protect the environment, why shouldn’t we?
You can outfit your child with everything they need for their first day of school, all while helping the planet at the same time!
Send them off with a reusable Bento lunchbox system that not only reduces waste, but is PVC, lead, and BPA free! Send them out for Little League with a stainless steel Klean Kanteen and never worry about spending money on and carting around dozens of plastic water bottles ever again.
Getting ready for that first day in a brand new classroom? Try some Soybean Blend Biodegradable Crayons made from vegetable oils instead of traditional ones made from the use of fossil-fuel resources or pencils made entirely from recycled newpaper!
Those pencils may not look like they made much of a difference but believe me, they add up fast!
In fact, did you know that for every ton of paper that we recycle and reuse, 17 trees are saved from being cut down? Or that 40% of all of the trash entering our landfills is paper that could have easily been recycled?
See what I mean? It really doesn’t take much for us to make a big impact on the world and the environment that we live in.
Your kids will learn recycling and eco-conscious behavior by watching you, so make sure you’re setting a good example!
